Registration and Cost

How do I register for the training and what is the cost?
You can find registration information by visiting our homepage. A registration schedule and registration form will be posted to the homepage for each training session.
just fill out the form. After submitting your registration request, a separate email will be sent to notify you we've received your submission.
Please note this message does not confirm your spot at the training. - Training Confirmation
The training coordinator will follow up via email to officially confirm your spot at the training.
Training spots will be filled first come, first served. Please expect an official confirmation email within about one month of submitting your registration form.
At that time, you’ll be asked to submit payment. Payment may be made via Secure Credit Card processing. The comprehensive fee for the TTS Training is $1,150.
Looking to register multiple people from the same organization? Ask us about our group rates!. - My organization will pay on my behalf for the training. How can they do this?
If your organization will pay on your behalf for the training, they may submit payment by credit card.
More information and a direct Secure Credit Card processing payment link will be provided by the training coordinator once your training spot is confirmed.
If your organization requires payment by check, please email training@ints.rutgers.edu.
Please note that we do not accept PO’s.
- My organization requires an invoice before they can make a payment. How can I receive an invoice?
If your organization requires an invoice to pay for the training, email training@ints.rutgers.edu. - When is the next upcoming training if my payment deadline is missed?
We hold up to four trainings each year. Visit our website's home page to view upcoming training dates once they are determined.
Training Format
- Is the training virtual? What is the format?
The training format is virtual and encompasses both asynchronous (working with online materials at your own pace) and synchronous (working virtually interactively as a group with the trainer conducting the session) sections. The asynchronous portion will be conducted through the Canvas online platform in which participants independently complete a series of educational modules during the two weeks prior to our live, 2-day interactive Zoom sessions. The 2-day sessions run from 8:00am-5:30pm ET each day. - Approximately how many hours will the asynchronous, Canvas sections require?
The time for the Canvas sections is variable, but could take up to 18 hours to review all modules, take quizzes, and read supplemental materials.
You will have access to the site for 2 weeks prior to the live, interactive days. - Is your new 2-day virtual training different from the 4-day training we previously saw advertised?
There is no difference in the trainings. The same material is covered, we have just updated our format to apply to a virtual learning environment. The training format is virtual and encompasses both asynchronous (working with online materials at your own pace) and synchronous (working virtually together as a group with the trainer conducting the session) sections. The asynchronous portion will be conducted through the Canvas online platform in which participants independently complete a series of educational modules during the two weeks prior to our live, 2-day interactive Zoom sessions. The 2-day sessions run from 8:00am-5:30pm ET each day. - Is there a difference between the Tobacco Treatment Specialist Training and the Certified Tobacco Treatment Specialist Training we previously saw advertised?
There is no difference in the trainings and the same material is covered. Our training program is fully accredited by the Council for Tobacco Treatment Training Programs. We no longer include the word “Certified” in our Training name to help clarify that after full completion of this training, participants will receive documentation of training completion and will be eligible to apply for National Certification; participants are not yet Certified.
Certification
- Is the training designed for those seeking tobacco treatment specialist certification? How do I complete certification?
The training is designed for any individuals who want to learn how to help people stop using tobacco (Tobacco Treatment Specialists). After completion of our training, those individuals may then elect to become certified and apply for National Certification; participants can document completion of our training in the certification application process. Certification requirements are determined by the certifying body and include several components after completion of the TTS training. More information will be provided at the TTS training regarding the process and requirements to become certified - Is there a difference in the certification we will be eligible to apply for with the 2-day virtual program compared to your previous 4-day program?
There is no difference in the certification you will be eligible to apply for now that we have transitioned virtual. The same material is covered, we have just updated our format to apply to a virtual learning environment. The 2-day sessions run from 8:00am-5:30pm ET each day. - Should an individual who is already a certified tobacco treatment specialist take this training?
Those who are already certified tobacco treatment specialists will likely encounter familiar content in this training as it follows the ATTUD core competencies, but they could benefit from up-to-date research on topics such as public health and tobacco, group therapy, behavior change, and program evaluation which our faculty presents and continuously updates.
Continuing Education
- What continuing education credits do you offer?
Professional Contact Hours are provided by UBHC for Physicians, Nurses, Psychologists, Social Workers, Professional Counselors (LAC/LPC), Licensed and Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselors (CADC/LCADC), Marriage, and Family Therapists (MFT/LMFT), Certified Recovery Support Practitioners (CRSP), and Pharmacists (CPE). Any questions about the continuing education credits listed should be directed to cce@ubhc.rutgers.edu.
Professional Contact Hours are provided by the American Association for Respiratory Care for Respiratory Therapists and the Rutgers School of Public Health for Certified Health Education Specialists. Any questions about Respiratory Therapist or Certified Health Education Specialist credits should be directed to training@ints.rutgers.edu.
Post-Test
- What is the required score to get on the Post-test TTS Training?
At least a 70% score to pass the training course. If your score is below the expected requirement score, we will work with you individually to remediate information to successfully complete the course. Please note that you will not have access to the Post-Test until AFTER completion of the final live Zoom session of the course.
Homework
- What is required for the Homework Assignment?
- We offer a Homework Assignment to be completed and returned AFTER completing the TTS training. It is designed to allow you to demonstrate mastery of key components of the training. Completion of the Homework Assignment is required IF you are planning to pursue Certification. If there is any chance that you will pursue Certification in the future, we encourage you to complete the homework.
The Homework Assignment is due three weeks after the training ends and is submitted through uploading files to Canvas in the HW Assignment Module. Although there are no points, this Assignment will be graded as Pass/Fail.
